  • What advice would you give high school students wanting to work in a lab?

Go explore something new. Don't study fruit flies just because that's what everyone else is studying.

  • How did NYCSEF impact your trajectory?

It showed me the public health implications and policy effects of research.

  • Do you have any advice for participants in the science fair?

The elevator pitch is crucial. Make sure to emphasize the implications of your project to everyday life.

  • Finish the sentence: I liked NYCSEF because ...

it was such a unique opportunity to meet so many inspired students, who had found their niche in their own way.

  • What do you love?

I love fighting the tobacco industry.
